Blog 6

"Big Brother" in the novel is the totalitarian dictator.  I really don't have much to say in this blog because I had never heard of "Big Brother" before reading this book.  The only thing that I can really think of as far as 'losing our privacy' is Google Earth.  I think it's creepy that they can take all of those pictures of the entire earth at any given time.  Other than that, I am apparently unaware of a lot of other instances of our own loss of privacy because I really can't think of anything.  I don't know of any examples of where we have given up our basic freedoms to feel 'safe', as stated in the blog prompt on the class blog.

  1. Google Earth is just a small part of mass surveillance. Our air force has satellites that can zoom in so far as to see the numbers and letters on your license plate with crystal clear quality. In respect to my Blog this week's title, Prison of Ignorance, many people really do not know the extent to which we are watched.

  2. I agree with you. I understand that we are being watched and what not but we aren’t really giving up a basic freedom to feel safe. The whole idea is over my head and I don’t understand it too much. Google Earth is really creepy but I don’t know if it is that dangerous. You never can be too sure though with the people in this world today.
